Vapor IO and its partners are creating the next generation internet by building data centers and internet exchange points at the edge of the cellular wireless networks. Vapor IO also leads one of the industry's most ambitious and well-regarded edge computing alliances, the Kinetic Edge Alliance. Moreover, Vapor IO also operates the leading Edge Computing event series, Edgecon, traveling the world to deliver a unique and intimate gathering of the most visionary decision-makers in edge computing, including these recent events: Edgecon Aspen, Edgecon Vegas, Edgecon LA, and Edgecon Barcelona.
The Partner Program and Events Manager will lead, expand, and evolve Vapor's partner and events programs, including the Kinetic Edge Alliance and Edgecon, recruiting members and attendees, overseeing events and campaigns, as well managing relationships with partners, speakers and attendees.
This role reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and requires a detail-oriented, resourceful, experienced and ambitious self-starter who requires very little oversight and is comfortable reporting to a C-level executive.
The Partner Program and Events Manager will be expected to:
Build trusted relationships with our partners across a range of functions and levels, from C-level/senior executives, relationship managers, and department leads
Research new partners and partnership opportunities; recruit new partners
Evolve Vapor IO's partner programs to reflect changing industry dynamics and stay ahead of competition
Liaise with partners to solve issues, understand needs and create campaigns that deliver value to partners and Vapor IO
Lead partner discussions ensuring alignment of process, critical inputs, goals, and reporting
Design, plan, oversee and promote Vapor IO's Edgecon event series.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including legal, product, and operations
Manage projects to ensure that timelines and requirements are met. Forecast and report on key metrics
The ideal Partner Program and Events Manager will have the following broad skills:
Industry Acumen – Strong domain knowledge of data centers, colocation, interconnection, telecommunications, as well as cloud and edge computing.
Business Acumen – Ability to command the respect of not only business peers, but also partners, customers, Vapor IO's employees, and industry groups. Strong understanding of business requirements and processes as they relate to cloud and edge architecture.
Management/Leadership – Capable of leading programs through planning, conviction, vision, and the ability to forge commitment from others with disparate objectives.
Experience -- proven track record working with emerging growth business to develop and enhance their partner program as an integral part of the business.
Interpersonal Relations – Capable of building consensus and leading cross-functional teams. Shows initiative and sells approaches through the power of ideas rather than mandates.
Organization - Exemplary organization, prioritization and project management skills, capable of working efficiently and on multiple projects in parallel.
Storytelling, Evangelism – Ability to work closely with the CEO, CMO and sales and marketing teams to develop messaging, ensure accuracy and quality of content, provide compelling stories, and be capable of exciting team members, partners and customers.
3-5 years experience in similar roles, focused on program development and aligning external and internal organizations and stakeholders
Very strong project management skills
The ability to work collaboratively across functions such as Marketing, Engineering, Sales, Legal, Finance, etc
The ability to communicate clearly in verbal, written, and presentation style formats
The ability to work in self-directed ways with minimal management
Experience working with remote teams
Experience with CRM software
Experience with technical projects, either as an engineer, a project manager, in the community or otherwise a plus
Direct experience with Open Source Software and communities
